The holidays are in full swing around here! My mom has committed to putting her house on the Christmas Tour of Home’s benefiting the local Carl Perkins Center this year, so Christmas decor is everywhere at her house! I tried to sneak some photos without Christmas decorations to show you a preview of our Thanksgiving Day plans!
My mom hosts Thanksgiving and Christmas at her house every year, God bless her! Years ago, we would have Thanksgiving and Christmas at my grandparents, but with aging grandparents we switched it to my parents home. This year we will have a Thanksgiving dinner, so that Evan and I can have lunch with his family. We have the typical Thanksgiving day spread, but I still want to share our menu with you because it may differ a bit from yours!
I went to moms one morning to help her set the table for dinner. We sipped coffee and discussed the menu and what each person should bring. I love my mom’s china, Royal Albert’s Old Country Roses , it’s such a timeless pattern. I feel like everyone now sticks to the neutrals, and I can’t say that I don’t do the same, but some color never hurt! Old Country Roses has more pieces to offer than any other China pattern I have ever seen. My mom has grown quite the collection over the years and still doesn’t have it all. It is definitely the gift that keeps on giving for her. We used her china dinner plates and gold chargers to set the table. Her flatware is not current so I would only be able to link replacements.

My brother in law, Matt, is an amazing cook/baker! He made the cheesecake and red velvet cake for us. He was going to do Tiramisu, but the small town grocery stores don’t carry the ingredients it calls for. I love red velvet cake though and my sister loves cheesecake!
I don’t know about you, but in my family we love coffee! We definitely need coffee to fight the urge to nap immediately after indulging in such a big delicious meal, but we also love it with our dessert 🙂
Evan’s family always goes around the table and says what they are thankful for each year. That’s always fun, especially with the little ones! That’s about the only difference between our family Thanksgivings.
Thanksgiving sometimes gets bypassed because everyone is so excited for the Christmas season. Don’t forget to be thankful and grateful this holiday season. Thank your hosts and whomever helped prepare the meals. Personally, I want to thank each and everyone of you for following along on this new journey of ours. I hope you all enjoy your time with friends and family.
