New Orleans | February 2019

Several months ago we were told that our good friend growing up was going to get married in New Orleans. We knew immediately that we would be going to that wedding. Who doesn’t love an excuse to go to NOLA? Once they sent out the save the dates and recommended hotels to us we booked The Hotel Monteleone, a luxurious old hotel located in the French Quarter. My parents then told me that my grandparents, Nonnie & Chief, actually stayed at that exact hotel on their honeymoon. That made me even more excited for the trip!

We ended up riding with my parents down there on Friday morning. Once we arrived at the hotel, we freshened up and grabbed a seat at the famous Carousel Bar! We “rode” around at least six or seven times before heading out to dinner. We made reservations at The Court of Two Sisters located in the heart of  The French Quarter on Royal Street. We enjoyed a nice meal on their brick patio with my parents and the Stitt’s! After dinner, Evan and I met up with a couple of friends at Maison Soule, a small bar located off Bourbon Street. It was so cozy and cute with a small jazz band playing in the corner.

Saturday morning, we were on the hunt for beignets and coffee! A friend of mine suggested a place close to the hotel, Cafe Beignet, which was perfect since we did not want to make the walk to Cafe Du Monde just to wait in the long line! The coffee and beignets did not disappoint and the place had a great courtyard for us to enjoy the nice weather.

From there, I met up with Chelsea to get blowouts at a local place about a block away called, Spa Atlantis. We had a great experience and the place was nice and clean with a modern style.

The ceremony was held at the gorgeous St. Louis Cathedral in historic Jackson Square. It was a beautiful ceremony complete with a second line parade (my most favorite part of the entire trip)! I have been to New Orleans several times before and seen these super fun wedding parades, so I was super excited to be a part of one! Each guest was given a white “flag” to wave around as we paraded the streets with a live band to the reception.

The reception was held right on the river at a beautiful venue called Marche. It had two great rooms as well as a terrace balcony over looking Jackson Square and the Mississippi River! They had the most amazing food you could ever ask for such as charbroiled oysters, gumbo, shrimp, brisket, pasta, crawfish étouffée and MORE!

This wedding was definitely one for the books! We enjoyed every second in the Big Easy and wish we could have stayed longer! Congrats to our friends, Elaine and Jones!

The bell hop made a great recommendation for the photo above! I love the way it turned out! If you have been to New Orleans before, tell me about your experience! I would love to hear from you!

RewardStyle | LIKEtoKNOWit

As most of you know, I was recently accepted into the RewardStyle program as an influencer! For those of you who are clueless as to what that means, this post is for you! This has been my main goal for this whole blogging journey and I am thrilled to say that I am an official fashion blogger!

What is RewardStyle?

RewardStyle is an invitation only affiliate network that focuses on fashion, lifestyle and beauty bloggers. They also own the LIKEtoKNOWit program on instagram that makes shopping photos really simple. This program allows bloggers, such as myself, to earn a commission on products that we recommend by using affiliate links.

*It is basically the middle man between bloggers and retailers.

How do I make money?

Using RewardStyle, I will generate a SMALL commission off of purchases made through my links. Seriously, it’s pennies and dollars! I could make 5-15% commission off of purchases you make through my links, whether here on the blog or on LIKEtoKNOW.it. Essentially, I am a salesperson in the virtual world, not in the store!

What is LIKEtoKNOWit?

LIKEtoKNOWit is an app for your phone where you can follow me, along with tons of other fashion/lifestyle/travel/beauty/home bloggers. It is where we link everything from our outfit to the chair we are sitting in. If you see something you like, you can instantly click the item and it will take you directly to the retailer to buy it.

HOW TO USE THE LIKEtoKNOWit APP (video below):

  1. Go to your App Store and download the app: LIKEtoKNOWit
  2. Create an account.
  3. Once you have created an account, go to the search bar and click influencer search. Search hemsandhospitality and click follow.
  4. Click on a photo and it will show you all the items in the picture. I have clicked on the GiGi New York handbag and showed you how it takes you directly to the retailer.

IT IS THAT EASY! Once you have an account, you can screen shot any of my photos on Instagram and they will be saved immediately to your LIKEtoKNOWit app for you to shop. Not a fan of screen shots? Just log into the app and scroll through my page! Shopping for a particular item? Go to the product search button and search for it. It will bring up any influnencers who have tagged what you are looking for.

Check out this step by step video!

Other Information

RewardStyle and the LIKEtoKNOW.it app does not give me any of your information. In fact, it does not even allow me to see who follows me, who “likes” my links or who buys from my links. It gives me analytics based on clicks, items sold, and commissions.

Valentine’s Day | Tradition

Do you have a tradition for Valentine’s Day? Evan and I started a tradition our first year of marriage and I love it. His favorite meal of all time is his grandmother’s spaghetti and meatballs. I was finally given the recipe after we were married! (not kidding!) For the past three years, I have made his grandmother’s homemade spaghetti and meatballs for us on Valentine’s. We use our fine china and crystal and sit in the dining room together. It’s fun and makes it a little more intimate than just sitting at the kitchen table or island with our everyday dishes! Sometimes we still make plans to go out to dinner too because we do love trying new restaurants and we use any opportunity to do so! This year we are going to New Orleans the day after Valentine’s Day for a wedding, so we did not make plans to go out to dinner.

We celebrated on Sunday this year because it is time-consuming to make and makes lots of leftovers! We did not want to leave all that food uneaten while we head down to New Orleans! I do not decorate for Valentine’s Day, but I did use red napkins for the occasion! Check out our Valentine’s “date”!

We didn’t end up getting a picture of the two of us unfortunately. We enjoyed a formal sit down meal together with wine, Caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and garlic bread! It was yummy if I do say so myself! The only thing missing was tiramisu! I hope we continue to carry on this tradition in the years to come.
