30 | My Best Friend’s Birthday Party

As I have mentioned before, Evan and I love to host friends and family in our home. A couple of weekends ago was no different. Evan and I hosted a 30th Birthday Party for our good friend, Jenn. We planned it around the Tennessee/Georgia football game. It was a beautiful afternoon for a small get together.

It’s still so hot here in the south, so I could not make myself put on my jeans. My favorite gingham skort from American Threads saved the day. Also, these platforms have been my go to shoe ALL summer, as I am sure you can tell. I wear them constantly!

Our back patio is the perfect spot to watch football with friends. We have enjoyed this space so much. I have managed to keep my big Kimberly fern alive all summer long and lots of potted flowers as well. (patting myself on the back) They really make the space more “home-y”,  along with the mad mats!

We had quite the spread for the party on my island. Jenn’s favorite is the ever famous sausage and cheese plate, so that was a must have. I cannot forget the wickles pickles to go with it. If you haven’t tried those you are seriously missing out! I have recently started making spinach artichoke dip for all occasions and it has been a hit each time!

CHEERS: Hobby Lobby | Table Runner: Amazon Prime

A good friend of mine from High School, Caitlin Pemberton, made the cake. She did a fabulous job and it tasted so good. Send me a message for her contact information.

Jenn is my very best friend and I would do anything to make her birthday a happy one! Fun was had by all even though our poor football team let us down once again. Our husbands turn 30 in May and we are looking forward to throwing them a fun joint birthday party.

Southern Soirée | Wedding Shower

We hosted a wedding shower Saturday night for my dear friend since childhood, WT & his sweet fiancé Shelby.  It was so much fun getting all of our friends together!

Pictured below are the Bride and Groom to be with their parents! Did you know it is customary for the couple to greet the guests at the front door as they arrive?

A southern soirée  calls for beautiful florals, delicious food, and good friends! We checked all of that off our list on Saturday while celebrating the bride and groom to be. Aren’t they a beautiful couple!? Can’t wait for the wedding!

The arrangements were all made by Melissa, excluding the centerpiece in the dining room, which was given by the grooms parents. The flowers from the arrangements came from Melissa’s yard and my mother in law’s yard. They consisted of magnolia leaves, jasmine, white roses, hydrangea, and other greenery.

The cookies were also made by Melissa, isn’t she the jack of all trades? She’s practicing for Greta’s first birthday in September!

All the food was made by a number of co-hosts who are all friends of the bride and groom. We could not have pulled off such an awesome party and delicious spread without help from all of them!

Our Menu:

  • Beef Tenderloin & Sister Schubert Rolls with a Horseradish-Cream Sauce
  • Chicken Salad Sandwiches on Croissants
  • Spinach Artichoke Dip
  • Onion Soufflé
  • Green Beans wrapped in Bacon
  • Multiple Charcuterie Boards with Sausage, Boudin, and an array of Cheeses, Crackers, and Grapes
  • Deviled Eggs
  • Cucumber Greek Salad
  • Two party sized pitchers of infused water: one infused with Oranges, and one with Cucumbers
  • Beer & Wine

To make sure there is a good “flow” with all the guests, we made sure to set up different stations around the house so no room would get overly congested. We had a cheese plate in the kitchen, charcuterie boards in the bar with some other appetizers, the main food items and desserts in the dining room, a water station, wine station, and several beer stations in the bar and outside on the patio.

Be sure to comment and let me know what your favorite things are to serve at a party!
